When it came to choosing what art movement style I wanted to replicate I chose Fauvism and Expressionism, the creators of this movement being Henri Matisse and André Derain. When deciding on what pieces to use as my inspiration I looked at artworks created by Andre Derain and found two that I used for my inspiration, first was the “L’ Estaque” (1905) and Henri Matisse’sself portrait painting of Andre Derain. When making this piece I had decided to use the colors from the environment painting adding them to the self portrait style. I chose the “L’ Estaque” for its colors because they are dynamic and sharp and I wanted to use more wild colors than the usual skin tones of a normal self portrait.
